When replacing your star rollovers, make sure the new housing is flush with the playfield. I don’t even want to admit how many hours I spent on an 8 Ball Deluxe with it not registering the switch afterwards.

Someone didn’t do that on this Gottlieb Star Race and whenever the ball was shot, the switch wouldn’t read. If you press the star, the switch registers. If the ball rolls from the top down, it registers.

What’s happening, believe it or not, when the ball is shot, it’s going fast enough that when it hits the housing, it jumps over it and the switch will never register. Tapping it down a bit more solved the problem.

On the before mentioned 8 Ball Deluxe, the playfield was sanded down and a new overlay was installed. I had to remove the housing and grind it down a little so it would fit.
